What to Expect When You Visit Our Church

Just what can you expect when you attend a service at our church? That’s a good question and a lot of the answer depends on just what your expectations are. We are a Pentecostal church so in any given service you’re apt to see outward demonstrations of praise and worship.

These can include:

  • people who raise their hands in the air;
    Psalm 63:3-4 NKJV 3. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. 4. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
  • people who pray out loud;
    Psalm 142:1 NKJV 1. I cry out to the LORD with my voice; With my voice to the LORD I make my supplication.
  • lots of singing;
    Psalm 96:1-2 NKJV 1. Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth. 2. Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
  • clapping of hands;
    Psalm 47:1 NKJV 1. Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
  • dancing;
    Psalm 149:3 NKJV 3. Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
  • people who speak in other tongues;
    Acts 2:4 NKJV 4. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
    Cor. 14:39-40 NKJV 39. Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. 40. Let all things be done decently and in order.
  • anointing of the sick with oil;
    James 5:14-15 NKJV 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Following a time of praise and worship, there is usually a time of preaching or teaching from the Word of God. Often there will be a time of prayer where people can seek the Lord Jesus Christ in their own way.

Having said this, we have two Sunday services that are different from one another. Our Sunday morning service at 10 a.m. is very structured, with a Christian Education program that serves ages 2 through adult. There is a special area for mother’s who are nursing, or have infants that need attention. We have a time of kid’s singing at the beginning of the service before moving into our general praise and worship time. After that the children are dismissed to their classes and the adults remain in the main sanctuary for their lesson. The whole service time lasts roughly one and a half hours, sometimes going a little longer or a little less. Afterwards, there is an adult coffee fellowship which includes: coffee, tea (decaf available), and small treats.

Sunday evening services are less structured and just about anything can happen. This is where you’re most likely to see the demonstrations of Pentecostal worship that were described above. There is lots of singing, praise and worship, occasional manifestations of the gifts of the Spirit (see 1 Corinthians 12), and preaching. Most always there is a time of individual prayer.

We also have individual Life Groups (a type of home meeting group) that meet in area homes every other week. Call or e-mail the church office to find where one is meeting near to you.

Whether you’re just curious about us, seeking the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, or simply desire to know the Lord than you do, we believe you’ll find our services interesting, Holy Spirit-filled, and a place that your life can change, for the better, forever.
